This would come into effect after the vote is completed, so any current GMs would not benefit from this.
The reason we would add this rule is to help recruit GMs to a team that could be in rough shape. The 1 free drop helps them get the team competitive again. The free drop would only be applicable to someone under contract, not a buy-out the team is already saddled with.

This one I also vote no. If a GM takes over a team in the NHL they are not forgiven for the past morons failure. They must utilize what they have to improve there team.
People are taking on these teams because they like the challenge. Only the original GM's (which is maybe 10 now) have the benefit of running there team from the beginning.
The edge is not that big.

I disagree as well. Not fair that GM's that have been here for the past 2 years must suffer when new GMs get a pass. It's everyone or no one.

I almost suggested this before, and then thought more against it. An elaborate thing would be for someone to "quit" and then try to comeback in order to get a free drop.
In all the leagues I've been in, new GMs usually embrace the oppurtunity of repairing mistakes from incompotent GM that came before.
If there was a team so mismanaged and the GM quit, we could consider it then. Better to not have a set rule in place.

Yeah, this is more popular in a pay league where guys are less likely to take on teams in rough shape.

As much as it may assist in recruitment, I see it as an unfair advantage for new GM's to clear a player. I mean on top of that, I joined last year, wheres my perk? (I'm kidding) I'd prefer a person enter the league and choose a team based on whats there, not what he may be able to clear from his roster upon entering. It's like being hired as GM for a team in the real world, you are stuck with the mistakes (and awesome signings) of your predecessor.
